C1. The short version Link to section C1. The short version

WalkCue looks through your camera so it can talk to you. What it sees stays on your phone. We do not record, upload, sell or share your video, photos, voice or location. We do not use your data to train our models unless you opt in to a specific program. There are no ads, no trackers and no data brokers.

C2. Who is responsible Link to section C2. Who is responsible

LIKE A KING INC. (One World Trade Center · Suite 8500 · New York, NY 10007 · United States) is responsible for the Service and this policy. Contact us through the contact form at walkcue.com.

C3. What happens to camera frames Link to section C3. What happens to camera frames

Each frame from your phone or glasses camera goes to a vision model running on your device. The model finds objects and their positions, the cue engine turns that into a short spoken cue, and the frame is thrown away. Frames are not saved to storage and are not sent over the internet, unless you use an optional feature that clearly tells you, each time, that it sends a frame (see C6).

C4. Voice Link to section C4. Voice

The native apps use on-device speech recognition where available. In the phone web app, the Talk button uses your browser's built-in speech recognition, and on some browsers the browser maker processes that audio on its servers under its own privacy policy. If you prefer not to allow that, do not use Talk; every other feature works without it. The spoken voice of your guide is generated on your device.

C5. Data stored on your device Link to section C5. Data stored on your device

  • Settings: voice, speed, Quiet mode, language, guide name and personality.
  • My things: if you teach WalkCue an item (for example "remember my wallet"), the photos you take of that item and simple descriptions of it, plus the last place it was seen, are stored on your device so that Find can look for your item.
  • Places: places you choose to save.

This data stays on your device. Deleting the app or clearing the web app's site data removes it. We cannot see it and cannot recover it.

C6. Optional cloud "brains" and the local assistant Link to section C6. Optional cloud "brains" and the local assistant

  • Local assistant (default): if you or a Helper run a vision model on your own computer, the app can send a frame and your question to that computer over your own Wi-Fi to answer questions like "what's in front of me?". That data stays on your own devices.
  • Cloud brains (off by default): with your explicit consent, you can choose a cloud provider (for example OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI or Google Gemini) to answer questions. When you ask a question, the app sends that frame and your question to the provider you chose. The provider processes it under its own terms and privacy policy, and may retain it as its policy allows. We do not keep a copy. You can turn cloud brains off at any time. API keys are kept on the computer that runs the helper service, not on the phone.

C7. Helpers and "Share setup" Link to section C7. Helpers and "Share setup"

When a Helper uses Share setup, the configuration (settings and the choices described above, but not camera frames) is passed by QR code or link from the Helper's device to yours. Access codes for local services change on each start and are shown only on screens you control.

C8. What we download Link to section C8. What we download

The app downloads its vision models and runtimes from public servers (for example jsDelivr and Google) the first time it starts and when they update. Those servers see an ordinary download request, as with any website.

C9. Analytics, cookies and advertising Link to section C9. Analytics, cookies and advertising

There is no analytics, advertising or third-party tracking in the Service, and the website uses no tracking cookies. If we add usage counts in the future, they will be opt-in, will contain no images, audio, location or health information, and will be described in this policy before they start.

C10. If you contact us or buy something Link to section C10. If you contact us or buy something

If you contact us, we receive what you send and your contact details, and we use them to reply. If you buy through an app store, the store processes payment and gives us only limited purchase information (for example that a subscription is active). If we sell directly in the future, payments will be processed by our payment provider, and we will not store full card numbers.

C11. How long we keep data Link to section C11. How long we keep data

Camera frames: not kept. Voice: not kept by us. Contact messages: up to 3 years, or longer if needed for a legal claim or obligation. Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually 7 years. Pilot or research data (opt-in only): as stated in that program's consent form.

C12. Sharing and selling Link to section C12. Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal information and do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only to service providers who process it for us under contract (for example email and hosting providers for contact messages), when the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice to you.

C13. Your rights Link to section C13. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Washington, New York and other states), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete and port your personal information, to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising and profiling, and to limit use of sensitive information. Because most WalkCue data never leaves your device, you control it directly by deleting it. For anything we hold, use the contact form. We will verify the request in a way proportionate to the data involved, respond within the time the law requires, and not discriminate against you for using your rights. You may use an authorized agent. If we deny a request, you may appeal through the contact form, and we will explain how to contact your state's attorney general if you remain unsatisfied.

C14. Sensitive and health information Link to section C14. Sensitive and health information

Use of an assistive product can reveal information about a disability. We do not collect consumer health data or biometric identifiers, we do not sell or share usage information, and we do not make inferences about anyone's health. If an opt-in pilot ever involves health information, it will have its own consent and notice, and where a health-care provider is involved, a separate agreement covering HIPAA where it applies.

C15. Children Link to section C15. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. See Part A, Section 3.

C16. Security Link to section C16. Security

On-device processing is our main protection: data we never receive cannot leak from us. For what we do hold, we use encryption in transit, access controls and least-privilege access, and we review security regularly. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and authorities as the law requires, including under the New York SHIELD Act.

C17. International users Link to section C17. International users

We are based in the United States. If you use the Service from elsewhere, any information you send us is processed in the United States.

C18. Changes to this policy Link to section C18. Changes to this policy

We will post changes here and, for material changes, notify you in the app before they take effect.
